I'm a software engineer from Belo Horizonte. Over the past 6 years I've had the chance to work with some great teams on digital banks, payment systems, energy platforms and hospitality apps, in Brazil and in the US. This is where I share a bit of that journey.

A bit about me

Pedro Rubinger

Pedro Rubinger

Software Engineer · Belo Horizonte, Brazil

I've been building software professionally for 6 years, mostly full-stack, with TypeScript, Go, React and React Native. I studied Software Engineering at UTFPR, and my first job was an IoT fleet-tracking app that talked to Bluetooth devices. I've been hooked ever since.

Most of my work has been in the financial world: banking apps, back-offices, Pix payments and a payment gateway. Along the way I've also worked in energy, hospitality and food service. Every industry taught me something different, and I've learned to love the part where you really understand a business before writing the first line of code.

What I care about most: software that's reliable, code the next person can read, and teams where people help each other grow.

Where I work

Luby

Software Engineer

Oct 2020 — Present

I joined Luby in 2020, and it's where I've grown as an engineer. It has given me the chance to work on products for banks, payment companies and well-known US brands.

Day to day I work across the stack. On the front-end I often help shape the architecture for React and React Native projects and care a lot about the details of the interface. On the back-end I build services in Go and NestJS on AWS, and I like making them boring in the best way: predictable, tested, easy to operate.

I also enjoy the people side of the work: understanding requirements with product owners, showing what we built to clients, and helping the juniors and interns who join the team.
